Crucible Industries LLC's latest tool steel, CPM-Cruwear, hardened to a hardness as high as 63-65 HRC, was used to build the blade. With excellent wear resistance and strength, CPM-Cruwear can be described as a steel with twice the performance of the original D2 steel.
The new formula is enriched with vanadium, tungsten and molybdenum additives, which give the steel exceptional wear resistance and allow for high hardening. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
