The diamond coating is harder than the sintered carbide, so the sharpening process is quite easy and fast, and does not require water and oil. The coated plates also enable sharpening of knives made of modern steel with a high degree of hardening, which cannot be handled by a standard stone sharpener. The whetstone consists of a solid, polymer base equipped with an anti-slip collar and a removable steel diamond coated plate with coarse 120 and fine 600 grit . The rubberized base of the housing prevents the sharpener from sliding or slipping on the table, and thanks to the holes, it can also be permanently attached to the table top.
