Walther AFW is a large folding knife from the Adventure Folder Wood series, created for outdoor enthusiasts and people looking for inexpensive tools made of good quality materials.
Walther AFW has a unique design that effectively combines modernity, classics and great functionality.
Weather resistant steel
The 102 mm long blade is made of Japanese AUS 8 stainless steel. The properties of this steel are similar to 440C (including increased carbon content), thanks to which it is hardened to 57-59 HRC . Resistance to wear and corrosion, good retention (keeping sharpness) and the speed of sharpening make the AUS-8 steel knife perfect for outdoor conditions and everyday use. To sharpen AUS-8 steel, we do not need an advanced sharpener, a universal tourist sharpener, e.g. Lansky BladeMedic, is enough. The blade was finished with the satin technique (polishing), which reduces light reflections and gives a classic look. Long blade with a useful clip-point profileit has a high concave grind, a durable tip, and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature of the belly, thanks to which the knife provides good cutting properties and high penetration.
Easy to unfold the blade
Walther AFW allows you to unfold the blade in two different ways . The first method uses two hands and is done by lifting the blade with a fingernail in a specially cut cutter. This classic solution has been used for several decades, e.g. in pocket knives and allows you to carry it legally in most EU countries. The second way allows you to open the knife with one hand by levering the double-sided catch attached to the spine with your thumb (modified thumb disc). The choice of method depends, of course, on the individual preferences of the user, but it is worth emphasizing that they are convenient for both right and left-handed users.
Strong lock
When unfolded, the blade is locked with a back-lock mechanism . After unfolding the blade, the lock located on the back of the knife sinks into the cutout at the back of the blade. Releasing the locking mechanism requires pressing the strip visible in the cutout of the handle.
Wooden handle
The knife has elegant walnut wood cladding with a matte finish. The covers have a profiled shape, with a clear finger cut, which effectively improves the grip of the knife and the comfort of its use.
The handle of the knife is reinforced with full steel liners (inserts to which the facings are attached). To carry the knife, we can use a leather belt pouch (fastened with a press stud) and a high-mounted steel clip (one-sided).
