The Kizer Noble Ki4550A1 is a folding knife inspired by the Japanese katana sword and designed by Indonesian knife designer Sebastian Irawan for Kizer.The Kizer Zen Ki4553 is part of the Bladesmith series, a collaboration between the Kizer group and unique knife designers from around the world.American stainless steelThe tanto profile blade is made from premium CPM-S35VN steel, hardened to 58-60 HRC hardness. A blade made from this steel is perfect for EDC knives because it resists wear and corrosion, has a long life and is relatively easy to sharpen. CPM-S35VN contains niobium carbides which, when combined with carbon, increase the hardness of the steel by 15-20% (compared to CPM-S30V steel). The addition of vanadium improves strength and toughness and creates fine-grained carbides of high hardness which increase the retention of the blade. Molybdenum is another important element in the alloy that affects wear resistance. To facilitate and speed up the sharpening process, we recommend the use of diamond sharpeners such as THE EDGE point SHARP 10-30°. The blade has a stone plate with an irregular texture that hides minor scratches caused by the use of the knife.Tanto bladeThe use of a tanto profile blade makes the Kizer Noble gentle-end kissaki (handle) resemble a pocketed Japanese katana. A knife with a tanto blade provides excellent penetration and is distinguished by the increased strength of the tip.Blade lockAfter folding, the blade is securely locked with a monolithic frame lock , steel reinforcement insert , which also prevents excessive deflection of the blade. The Frame-lock is a lock considered one of the most durable locking mechanisms, characterized by resistance to dirt and very comfortable operation.Titanium linersThe knife liners are made of lightweight titanium 6AL4V , a high mechanical strength alloy, resistant to high temperatures, corrosion, acid and seawater. The stylish etching refers to a decorative braid originally made on the handle of a katana made of silk or cotton ribbon. The oval grooves improve grip and reduce the weight of the linings. The knife can be carried discreetly in the pocket by means of a titanium clasp (with reversible option) milled from a single piece of metal.
