The Benchmade 391SBK SOCP is a large tactical knife designed for uniformed personnel.The knife was designed by Greg Thompson, creator of the SOCP program, a combat system for US Army Special Forces.Versatile bladeThe slim blade with symmetrical spear point profile is covered with a black Teflon coating that protects against corrosion, minor scratches and emphasizes the tactical nature of the knife. To increase the functionality of the knife, the back of the cutting edge is serrated .The combined blade is particularly useful when cutting hard and fibrous materials such as straps, ropes and ribbons.The strong tip, the very gentle curvature of the edge and the flat grinding make the blade cut very smoothly and efficiently , and there is no tendency to jam in the material.The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm , which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife for everyday work.Hard tool steel D2A 113 mm long blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel, hardened to 60-62 HRC. D2 is the most corrosion-resistant carbon steel, characterized by high wear resistance, long life and aggressive cutting.When choosing a knife made of this steel, it is advisable to purchase a diamond sharpener, because sharpening with a standard ceramic saw stone can be very time-consuming and inefficient.Convenient openingThe blade is opened by means of a symmetrical dial , located on the back of the knife , which allows the knife to be handled by right and left-handed users. The size of the dial and its convenient positioning allow the blade to be opened while wearing gloves.Safety during workThe knife uses Benchmade's flagship lock, the shaft lock mechanism, which is valued for its resistance to high dynamic loads, dirt resistance and ease of use. The strength and rigidity of the knife construction is ensured by the increased thickness of the full steel liners.Lightweight and durable linersThe knife's profiled sheath is made of a special CF-Elite material (carbon fibre reinforced nylon), which is much lighter and stiffer than, for example, G10 laminate.
