The Benchmade 4600DLC Phaeton is a lightweight automatic knife , equipped with a CPM-S30V stainless steel blade , a large unfolding button and a handle made of milled aircraft aluminum. Phaeton is a tactical automatic OTF (out of front) knife, designed for uniformed services and everyday use. Tactical blade The slender dagger blade with a drop-point profile has been completely covered with a black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) protective coating. This abrasion-resistant carbon sheath increases the external hardness of the steel, which is why it perfectly protects the blade against corrosion, wear and scratches. The renowned CPM-S30V steel was used to build the blade. S30V powder steel by Crucible Industries is hardened to the optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC , which is why it maintains high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion. Thanks to the high content of vanadium carbides , the steel is distinguished by high impact strength and abrasion resistance, as well as excellent cutting properties . When choosing a hard steel knife, you should buy a diamond sharpener, because sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very laborious and ineffective. Immediate unfolding The blade is unfolded by moving the knurled slider forward , folding only requires the slider to be moved back in the opposite direction. The button has a deep milling, thanks to which the knife can also be operated with gloves. Reliable and safe The blade is extended and folded only after a full, controlled movement of the slider, so the knife is safe to use and carry . The whole process takes place quickly and, most importantly, in a safe manner. Because after unfolding the blade, it is blocked in as many as 3 places. Ergonomic handle The comfort and ease of handling the knife is ensured by a massive handle made of aviation aluminum 6061-T6 . The grip has a profiled shape, its surface has been knurled, which guarantees excellent grip to the hand and prevents the knife from slipping.
