The Kershaw Cryo II 1556BW is a larger, modernized version of the popular Crio edc knife , which was created in collaboration with renowned knife designer Rick Hinderer.
Kershaw Cryo is an award-winning EDC knife that has gained considerable recognition and popularity among knife enthusiasts. As in the first edition, the knife has a blade made of valued 8Cr13MoV stainless steel , which is perfect for everyday work, the blade and the handle have been covered with a wear-resistant titanium-carbon coating .
However, Cryo II is 20% heavier and larger than its predecessor , so it can also be used for light field work.
Proven steel
Kershaw Cryo II was created for everyday use and outdoor use , which is clearly emphasized by its optimal size, solid construction and typically functional style .
The 82 mm long blade is made of the popular 8Cr13MoV steel, hardened to 57-59 HRC . This Chinese steel has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6.
The 8Cr13MoV steel blade is perfect for everyday use, due to corrosion resistance, good sharpness and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is enough.
Functional blade
The massive blade with a useful drop-point profile has an effective BlackWash finish (black oxidation) , which effectively masks any scratches or abrasions of the blade caused during use.
Thanks to the use of a strong point, a concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature, the knife has good cutting properties and the blade does not get stuck in the cut material .
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.8 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Transverse cutters made on the back of the blade allow for stable finger support during work.
Comfort of use
The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways : using a milled flipper or using a double-sided pin, thus enabling the choice of the method in accordance with our preferences.
Both solutions are convenient for both right- and left-handed users, they also allow for convenient operation of the knife with gloves.
Mechanism supporting the unfolding of the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism . When you press down on the flipper fin or pry off the pin, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically extends the blade, so the knife is ready to work in a fraction of a second.
Solid lock
The monolithic frame-lock , considered to be one of the most durable locking mechanisms, effectively protects against accidental folding of the blade . The locking strip has a limiter that prevents it from deforming and extending too far outwards. The lock, like the flipper and pin, can be operated with one hand.
Carrying clip
Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is possible thanks to the high-mounted clip, with the possibility of mounting in 4 positions (up / down, right / left). There is also a hole on the handle for attaching a decorative paracord braid, which is very popular among most knife owners.
Simple and stylish
The handle of the knife is made of cladding made of 410 stainless steel, gently profiled to the hand. To protect the grip, similarly to the blade, a BlackWash protective coating was used , thanks to which the knife has an aged look.
