Kershaw Filter 1306BW is an EDC folding knife from the budget Starter series dedicated to less demanding users. The Starter model is an everyday use folder that started a series of inexpensive knives with a modern design, made of easy-to-sharpen 4Cr14 steel and equipped with the SpeedSafe system responsible for supporting the opening of the blade. Proven steel The 83 mm long blade is made of solid 4Cr14 steel hardened to a hardness of 55-57 HRC . This Chinese stainless steel is characterized by high resistance to corrosion , keeps sharpness for a relatively short time, which, however, perfectly compensates for the ease and speed of sharpening . Such steel properties make the Kershaw Filter 1306BW​ designed for less demanding users and people who are just starting their adventure with the outdoors and the EDC issue. Functional blade The slim blade with a useful drop-point profile has an effective aged BlackWash finish (black oxide), which effectively masks minor scratches or abrasions of the blade caused during use. Thanks to the use of a narrow point, concave cut and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature, the knife has good cutting properties and the blade does not get stuck in the cut material. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.8 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Transverse cutters made on the back of the blade allow for stable finger support during work. Convenient operation The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways : using a milled flipper or using a double-sided pin, thus enabling the choice of the method in accordance with our preferences. Both solutions are convenient for both right- and left-handed users, they also allow for convenient operation of the knife with gloves. Mechanism supporting the unfolding of the blade The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism . When you press down on the flipper fin or pry off the pin, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically extends the blade, so the knife is ready to work in a fraction of a second. Solid lock The monolithic frame-lock , considered to be one of the most durable locking mechanisms, effectively protects against accidental folding of the blade . The lock, like the flipper and pin, can be operated with one hand. A reliable lock is an important element calling for the functionality and safety of a folding knife. Carrying clip Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is facilitated by the elastic clip (1 position). There is also a hole on the handle for attaching a decorative paracord braid, which is very popular among most knife owners. Armored linings The handle of the knife is made of oxidized stainless steel cladding , gently profiled to the hand. Cutouts along the cladding reduce the weight of the handle and improve the grip of the knife to the hand.
